In Tempo
Singing/Playing
Teacher landscapes a time signature and with varied tempos in two-four, three-four, four-four, compound meters, and asymmetric meters.
Beginning
Choose a four-chord harmonic progression and using call and response have each student perform the same progression layering the prompt ‘change’ to alter dynamics, accents, and textures.
Intermediate
Layer and antecedent four measure phrase with a consequent four measure phrase while a student improvises a melody that incorporates contrapuntal embellishments.
Advanced
Using the smorgasbord, choose harmonic progressions over which a student adds chromatic embellishments, different rhythm patterns.
