Goal: To combine elements of music with improvisational concepts.
In Tempo
Singing/Playing
Teacher landscapes a time signature and with varied tempos in two-four, three-four, four-four, compound meters, and asymmetric meters.
Beginning
Add two, three, or four melodic patterns together and perform them changing accents and textures.
Intermediate
Using Call and Response and change, have students take a four-note melody and perform the inversion, retrograde or retrograde-inversion of it.
Advanced
Layer two melodies with two students singing in harmony. Then, using the prompt "change," have the students switch parts and add accidentals to each of their melodies.
