Goal: To share rhythm patterns in a social context.
Out of Tempo
One rhythm at a time.
Beginning
- Teacher speaks a rhythm pattern (ta, rhythm words).
- Student responds.
- Teacher and student go back and forth on one rhythm.
Intermediate
- Student chooses a rhythm pattern.
- Teacher responds.
- Student and teacher go back and forth on one rhythm.
Advanced
- Students pair off and share leading and following on one rhythm.
In Tempo
Sung, played in two-four, three-four, four-four
Beginning
- Teacher performs a rhythm pattern in 2, 3, or 4 time.
- Student responds in 2, 3, or 4 time.
- Teacher and student go back and forth on one rhythm.
Intermediate
- Student performs a rhythm pattern.
- Teacher responds in 2, 3, or 4 time.
- Student and teacher go back and forth on one rhythm.
Advanced
- Students pair off and share leading and following on one rhythm.
