Seventh Chords: Change



Goal: To hear and perform V7 chords by changing triads into V7 chords.


Out of Tempo

Spoken, sung, or played.

Beginning

  1. Teacher prompts, “Change a major triad to a dominant seventh chord.”
  2. Students do so.

Intermediate

  1. Teacher prompts, “Change a minor triad into a dominant seventh chord.”
  2. Students do so.

Advanced

  1. Teacher prompts, “Change an augmented or diminished triad into a dominant seventh chord.”
  2. Students do so.

In Tempo

Singing or playing in two-four, three-four, or four-four, one note per measure at first.

Beginning

  1. Teacher prompts, “Change this major triad to a dominant seventh chord, one note per measure.”
  2. Students do so.

Intermediate

  1. Teacher prompts, “Change this minor triad into a dominant seventh chord, one note per measure.”
  2. Students do so.

Advanced
