  1. Teacher combines x number of staccato and legato sounds and repeats the combination.
  2. Students repeat.

  1. Teacher combines patterns of alternating staccato and legato sounds.
  2. Students repeat.

Beginning

  1. Teacher sings one note staccato, repeating it in two-four, three-four, or four-four meter using quarter note rhythms.
  2. Students repeat.
  3. Teacher sings one note legato repeating it in two-four, three-four, or four-four meter using quarter note rhythms.
  4. Students repeat.

Intermediate

  1. Teacher sings one note staccato, then the same note legato repeating it in two-four, three-four, or four-four meter using quarter note rhythms.
  2. Students repeat.
  3. Teacher sings one note legato, then the same note staccato repeating it in two-four, three-four, or four-four meter using quarter note rhythms.
  4. Students repeat.

Advanced

  1. Teacher sings 2, 3, or 4 notes alternating staccato and legato repeating it in two-four, three-four, or four-four meter using quarter note rhythms.
  2. Students repeat.

More Advanced

  1. Teacher sings 2, 3, or 4 notes alternating staccato and legato with varying rhythms of the beat, division of the beat, and subdivision of the beat in the given time signature.
