Triads: Call and Response
Goal: To use social activities to hear, sing, and play triads.
Out of Tempo
Speaking or playing. One triad per exercise – changing triads is done in the Change chapter.
Beginning
- Teacher speaks or plays three notes of any triad: major, minor, augmented or diminished.
- Students identify the triad.
- Then students speak or play three notes of any triad.
- Teacher identifies the triad.
Intermediate
- Teacher speaks or plays a triad and passes it to a student.
- The student speaks or plays the same triad and passes it to the next student.
- The process repeats until all students have passed the same triad to the next student.
Advanced
- A student starts the process of passing a triad to the next student.
- The process continues until all students have passed the same triad to the next student.
In Tempo
Slow tempo, two-four, three-four, or four-four, one note per measure at first.
Beginning
One triad per exercise
- Teacher sets a time signature in a given tempo and sings a triad one note per measure and passes it to the next student.
- The student repeats the triad in the same tempo and passes it to the next student.
Intermediate
- A student sets a time signature in a given tempo and sings a triad one note per measure and passes it to the teacher.
- The teacher repeats the triad and passes it to the next student.
Advanced
- A student sets a time signature in a given tempo and passes it to a student.
- The process repeats until all students have sung the same triad.
