Triads: Patterning
Goal: To hear and sing triads in root position using movement.
Out of Tempo
Spoken, numbers, letters, intervals, solfege, chord tones
Beginning
- Teacher shows on their body and speaks, “Waist = root, ribs = third, chin = fifth.”
- Students move and repeat.
Intermediate
- Teacher shows and speaks, “Waist = root, chin = fifth, ribs = third.”
- Students move and repeat.
Advanced
Rotating around a different chord tone but root remains lowest note
- Teacher shows and speaks, “Ribs = third, chin = fifth, waist = root.”
- Students repeat.
In Tempo
Sung using chord tones, remaining in root position – root is lowest note and in two-four, three-four, or four-four using one note per measure.
Beginning
- Teacher shows on their body and sings, “Root, third, fifth.”
- Students move and repeat.
Intermediate
- Teacher shows on their body and sings, “Root, fifth, third.”
- Students move and repeat.
Advanced
