Accents: Layering



Goal: To combine elements of music with improvisational concepts.


In Tempo

Singing/Playing

Teacher landscapes a time signature and with varied tempos in two-four, three-four, four-four, or six-eight.

Beginning

Layer accents with only one other element and concept at first. Although accents seem like an added surface layer, them become more demanding and expressive in an improvisation when combined with other elements and concepts.

Intermediate

Pick a scale and use the accent smorgasbord with the prompt "change."

Advanced

Combine accents melodies, and dynamics with call and response.
