Goal: To combine elements of music with improvisational concepts.
In Tempo
Singing/Playing
Teacher landscapes a time signature and with varied tempos in two-four, three-four, four-four, or six-eight.
Beginning
Choose a four note melody, and add one note at a time using call and response.
Intermediate
Choose a four-note melody, and using the prompt "change," have students chromatically alter one or more of the notes of the melody.
Advanced
Choose a melody and add syncopation, accents, textures, and dynamics using call and response and the prompt, "change." You can also change the contour of the melody – going up versus going down, leaping versus stepping.
