Goal: To combine elements of music with improvisational concepts.


Out of Tempo

Speaking.

Beginning

Accelerando/Ritardando, Crescendo/Decrescendo, Compound Meter with Arithmetic, Patterning, Call and Response.

Intermediate

Crescendo/Decrescendo, Triplets, Scales with Arithmetic, Change, Smorgasbord.

Advanced

Compound Meter, Melody, Harmony with Call and Response, Change, Smorgasbord.

In Tempo

Singing/Playing

Teacher landscapes a time signature and with varied tempos in two-four, three-four, four-four, or six-eight.

Beginning

Choose a rhythm pattern and layer it with dynamics, textures, and dynamics.

Intermediate

Two students have their own rhythm pattern. Using call and response, switch the patterns back and forth using different tempos.

Advanced

Four students have their own rhythm patterns. Using the prompt, "change," switch, combine, vary, and layer the patterns with different melodies.
