Goal: To prepare modulation with a general warm-up performed out of tempo.

The ‘Do to Do’ scales

  1. Teacher plays a dominant seventh chord of four (C7 in F) and prompts, “Sing a scale from C to C, up and down, and add a Bb to the scale. Then sing the new tonic note.”
  2. Students do so.
  3. Teacher plays a dominant seventh chord of flat-seven (F7 in Bb) and prompts, “Sing a scale from C to C, up and down, and add a Bb and Eb to the scale. Then sing the new tonic note.”
  4. This process repeats for all flat keys following the circle of fifths.
  5. Using sharp keys, a C# is introduced.
